Shopworks are delighted to be working with Charles Wells to turn it’s new multi-million investment brewhouse in Bedford into a best in class visitor destination and experience.
Charles Wells has been part of the community in Bedford for the last 140 years, and the new complex will be a focal point for surrounding businesses and residents to enjoy. It will also be an example of how traditional breweries can turn the evolution of the brewing industry to their advantage.
The 30,000 hectolitre brewery will meet changing beer drinkers and visitor expectations with new branding, a smaller more artisanal brewing environment and facilities the whole community can enjoy.
The site will include a visitor centre for brewery tours, an on-site pub which will double up as a venue for music events and functions, as well as a retail space stocked full of exclusive beers brewed on-site.
“It is an exciting challenge for Shopworks to design an immersive visitor experience such as this. Working with the team at Charles Wells has so far been a rewarding experience of shared enthusiasm to bring to life a retail proposition that reacts positively to changing consumer demands,” says Craig Phillipson, Managing Director at Shopworks.
The brewery development will have the capacity to produce up to 5.5 million pints a year serving Charles Wells’ 197 pub-estate across the UK and France.
The new facilities are due to be operational in early 2020.
